What a UID is
Think of it as the name of your account. When you register, the form asks you to create an account identifier, and Winbox calls that your UID. Nobody else can have the same one, which is why the form checks it for you before it lets you continue.
It's a different thing from your display name in a game, and from your phone number or email. Those are contact details. The UID is what identifies the account itself.
UID vs password vs phone or email
- UID: who the account is. You choose it once, at sign-up.
- Password: the private part that proves it's you. You keep this to yourself.
- Phone number or email: how the platform reaches you, for example to send a verification code or help you recover the account.
Mixing these up is the most common reason a login fails. If the login form asks for your UID and you type your phone number, it won't work, and the other way round. Always read the label on the field.
Where you use it
Every time you log in to Winbox, whether that's in a browser, through H5 or in the app. It's the same account in all three, so you don't need a different UID for each, and a second account for a different device won't help. If you're choosing between them, Winbox H5 vs App explains the difference.
Choosing a good UID
You pick it when you create a Winbox account, so it's worth a minute of thought.
- Pick something you'll remember without looking.
- Have two or three backups ready, because your first choice may be taken.
- Use the Check button before moving on.
- Write it down somewhere safe as soon as it's accepted.
If the form keeps saying it's taken, see what to check when you can't sign up. And for the full list of what to prepare, there's a Winbox register checklist.
If you can't remember your UID
Before anything else, look in the places you may have already saved it:
- Notes or messages you wrote to yourself when you signed up.
- A password manager, if you use one.
- Saved logins in the browser or phone you used to register. Look, but don't guess over and over.
If none of that helps, use the Forgot Password / UID link on the login screen. It covers a missing UID as well as a forgotten password, and recovery goes through the platform. Have your registered phone number or email ready. Our guide to a forgotten password or UID walks through it, and if you know your UID but the login still fails, try what to check when Winbox login isn't working.
Keeping your UID safe
Your UID is less sensitive than your password, but it's still half of what gets into your account. Treat it with care.
- Don't post it publicly, for example in comments or group chats.
- Never give it, your password or a verification code to anyone offering to "help".
- Only type it into a page you reached yourself, after checking the web address.
- Keep your phone number or email up to date, so recovery stays possible.
What we can't tell you
We can't confirm how long a UID can be, which characters it may contain, whether it can be changed later, or where in your account it's shown. Those details belong to the platform and may change. If you need to know, check the sign-up form itself or ask the platform's support option. The Winbox88 homepage lists what else this site covers.
